Brain Navi Vol.7:
Spread spirit of ”Learning from failure in the past” to Vietnam

2015/6/24

Dear our precious customers,

I am Kondo Noboru, CEO of Brain Works Group. This is Brain Navi - our online magazine which is being established periodically.

Vietnam is in the period of rapid economic growth, but at the same time it is facing many problems. Social infrastructure, transport infrastructure, environmental problems ... are all critical issues for any country in the process of economic growth. In order to solve these problems, learning from experience of people who lived through it maybe one of the shortest paths.

From April 2013 to March 2014, our company has been entrusted by Osaka Police Department to implement renewal car driving license instruction program in Osaka Prefecture. We have set it up in about 63 towns and districts of Osaka and employed about 300 teachers and staff from throughout Kansai for this program. This is the first time that a private enterprise was assigned to this instruction program. After this program, we continue educating traffic safety for private enterprises in Japan. We have received many inquiries from a lot of companies, typically transportation and taxi companies.

In 2014, Vietnam has about 9000 people kiiled in road traffic accidents. In recent years, this number has decreased, but the undeniable fact that each year there are still nearly 10,000 people killed in traffic accidents. In Japan, the number of traffic accident deaths in 2014 was 4,100 people, but in 1970, the figure was over 16,000 people. It has been known as traffic battlefield, traffic accidents have become social problem at that time. If you look at the current situation in Vietnam, the street full of motorcycles and the number of cars being on the rise may remind you of Japan in the 1970s. This is why we think the experience and know-how of Japan may be useful for Vietnam.

Our company in Vietnam are planning to start teaching traffic safety the same way we did in Japan. Specifically, we are proceeding to open road traffic safety classes for parents and children in Vietnam. We will conduct first in Ho Chi Minh Ciy, where our company’s head quarter located, but we also want to extend this class to all cities and provinces of Vietnam.

In the industrialization process, Japan experienced a lot of failure. About traffic safety problem which we mentioned here, thanks to the improvement of transport infrastructure, educational activities towards citizen as well as the advancement of automotive engineering, the number of traffic accident deaths reduced sharply. The same thing happened with environmental issues. In the past, Japan was once known as the country of serious environmental pollution, but then has strived for many years to improve such matters. Japan has continuously learnt from the failure.

Spreading the failure happened in Japan to Vietnam is benefitable for both countries. So we are willing to continue promoting this activity in the coming time.
